Footage of a Breakout on the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii

Some new footage of the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii was released yesterday. The video shows what is known as a breakout. A breakout is when lava flowing through a lava tube simply breaks out of the flow tube. This particular lava flow has been occurring almost continuously since 1983 and has single handedly added 500 acres of land to the island. The volcano releases 200,000-500,000 cubic meters of lava per day.
