A new genius and species of dinosaur, related to velociraptors, was discovered in the Liaoning Province of northeastern China. The dinosaur named Zhenyuanlong suni is a 125-million years old and was about 5-ft. (1.5 m) long.
Zhenyuanlong suni was covered in feathers and had bird-like wings. However, it was unlikely that the 45 lb. (20 kg) dino was able to fly using the same muscle-driven flight methods that modern birds utilize. Its arms were too short for flight. Zhenyuanlong suni is special because it is the largest dinosaur on record with feathered wings.
The Liaoning Province of China is famous for its population of preserved feathered dinosaurs. The first preserved feathered dinosaur was uncovered in the Liaoning Province in 1996, and since then thousands of feathered dinosaurs have been unearthed in the area.
