There is an unnamed lake in Northwest Territories, Canada that is literally going to fall off a cliff. Vice.com posted the story about how climate change is the likely suspect for the potentially catastrophic event. The lake was stabilized by permafrost; however, increased temperatures and rainfall have caused mass wasting events to erode away at the hillside which contains the lake. As little as 5 m of sediment hold the lake in place in some spots. The Northwest Territories Geological Survey issued a warning that the headwalls containing the lake will breach this year (likely this summer) and create a catastrophic flash flood and possible debris flow. Luckily the lake is located in a remote location and does not pose a threat for any towns.
